2012 Subaru Legacy
Sometimes being different is a good thing. And what makes the 2012 Subaru Legacy different from the rest of the midsize sedans is definitely a good thing. It has carved out a niche for itself with a standard all-wheel drive and four or six cylinder engines, including one that's turbocharged. When you bring Subaru's unique styling into the equation, you get a car like no other.
The 2012 Subaru Legacy is available in seven trims, increasing in features and luxury. The base model, 2.5i, comes equipped with a 170-hp SUBARU BOXER® engine, Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC), and a choice of automatic or manual transmission. The Premium trim adds aluminum-alloy wheels and a leather steering wheel, while the Limited trim takes it a step further with all leather interior, an upgraded audio system and heated front seats. The 2.5GT Limited has all the premium features of the Limited with a 265-hp engine. The 3.6R models are essentially the same as the 2.5i models, but gain a horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine, bigger brakes and 17-inch alloys wheels for all models.
Subaru has a reputation for spacious interiors and the Legacy does not disappoint. It is well known for its ample hip room in the front, leg room in the back, and all over head space. The comfort of its inside is matched only by its sleek sophistication. As for cargo, the trunk offer 14.7 cubic feet of space.
In government crash tests, the 2012 Subaru Legacy earned an overall rating of four out of five stars, scoring four stars for overall front and side crash protection. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave it a perfect score of "Good" in the frontal-offset, side and roof strength tests. In fact, for the third consecutive year, the IIHS has recognized Subaru as the only manufacturer with a 2012 Top Safety Pick winner for all models.
Although it falls into a hotly competition market, the 2012 Subaru Legacy remains a strong value and super star among the competition.
