The Subaru STI (known as the Impreza STI variant in United States) is looking towards a diesel-electric hybrid car, over the more popular gas-electric hybrid vehicles available at most American dealership lots.

But diesel engines have become a bit more popular again, ever since the gas crisis from two summers ago forced prices in North America shot to the high $5 dollars a gallon. Diesel isn't greatly cheap, but it's better on a car's transmission and engine, and also produced more miles per gallon.
