Subaru Impreza WRX: Fast Meets Frugal

Think you have to break the bank if you want a fast car? Think again. A recent report from Forbes.com indicates there are a handful of affordable cars that race from 0-60 mph in under six seconds. Most of them actually run about one-third of the price of racers from the likes of Porsche and BMW.

Coming in at Number Two on the Forbes.com "Fastest Cars Under $30,000" list, is the Subaru Impreza WRX. Fitted with a 2.5-liter H4turbo engine and 5-speed manual transmission, the WRX races from 0-60 mph in just 5.2 seconds. And, it starts at only 25,495 big ones.

In addition to offering spendthrift speed, the Subaru Impreza WRX offers a handful of other standard features and benefits that make it a smart choice for car buyers craving an exciting, yet safe, ride. These include:

-    All-wheel drive
-    Brake assist-    Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC)
-    Traction Control System (TCS)
-    Daytime running lights
-    Height-adjustable 3-point front seatbelts
-    Front and side-curtain airbags

To compile its list of "Fastest Cars Under $30,000", Forbes.com scrutinized 0-62 mph acceleration times for 2011. The 10 fastest cars priced at under $30,000 are featured on the list. Again, the Subaru Impreza WRX came in second out of ten!
